Entry# 10: Disorders
Disorders can be defined from a biological perspective as abnormal behavior. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) is the standard the classification of mental disorders and is used by mental health professionals in the United States. I will discuss three categories of disorders in this entry. Types of disorders Phobias : strong and irrational fear of certain objects and situations Agoraphobia: Fear of public spaces Social Phobia: Fear of Specific phobias: Fear of specific of specific animals, objects, or situation Generalized anxiety disorder Panic Disorder: Recurring unexpected panic disorders Body Dysmorphic Disorder: preoccupation with a perceived flaw in the body. most likely face.
