Entry #1. Blogging
I have never been particularly interested in blogs as I never understood why someone would make one, but I have recently been exposed to a lot of class due to the college classes I am currently taking. I found a lot of interesting blogs and I now understand why people take up blogging.
I recently read "How to Grill Pizza" on the Cookie and Kate blog and it was an interesting read. Kates blog is a Casual/professional food blog and it takes elements from both casual blogs and professional blogs. I especially like how colorful her blog is. Kate has professional pictures of colorful food which makes reading all the more enjoyable
Kate's blog is a How- To blog and her purpose is to give step by step instructions on how to grill pizza. Her tone is lively and her diction is semi- formal. She numbers her steps so that it is easy to follow.
She also provides a link to one of her previous recipes which will be helpful when making grilled pizzas. Overall, her blog is colorful and helpful.
Another blog I read is "Enjoying a picnic with a refreshing and easy Mango- Pineapple summer drink." by Our Food Stories. This blog caught my eye because it is about Mangos and Pineapples and I like them both. The blog post is full of beautiful professional photos and they truly catch the eye.
I like the blog because of the beautiful imagery. It is a casual blog as it has more photos than words. The authors purpose is to share a delicious cocktail recipe for the summer and because of this, there are a lot of picnic photos to depict a summer outing. The diction is semi-formal with a friendly tone and a link is included to get a discount on cocktails. The last blog I will discuss is "7 ways to extend the growing season" by Shannon Cowan. This is a gardening blog and Shannon's purpose is to share tips on how to preserve your summer harvest. She provides a list on the steps you could take to preserve your plants. Her list also includes images which makes it easier to understand what she is a saying.
I find gardening boring but I found her tips really helpful and interesting. Her tone is formal and she presents her ideas in a way that is easy to understand and follow.
Overall, I have certainly warmed up to blogs and I look forward to discovering more interesting blogs
